Roger Herman

Roger Herman is a Strategic
Business Futurist concentrating on workforce and workplace
trends. He is Chief Executive Officer of The Herman Group, a
firm of Certified Management Consultants based in North
Carolina. Founded in 1980, the firm serves a wide variety of
corporate, trade association, and governmental clients on a
national basis. A significant part of the firms work is
guiding organizations through structural, mission, leadership,
cultural, and design changes to help them better prepare for the
future.
Roger is author of ten books,
including Keeping Good People (a business
classic), Turbulence! Challenges & Opportunities in
the World of Work, and The Process of Excelling.
Lean & Meaningful (May 1998) was co-authored
with his partner, Joyce Gioia. Signs of the Times,
insights into 100 trend indicators, was published in 1999. Workforce
Stability: Your Competitive Edge (March 2000) explores a
comprehensive model of attracting, optimizing and retaining top
talent. How to Become an Employer of Choice (April
2000) describes what companies can do to inspire workers to
choose to work for them. How to Choose Your Next Employer
(May 2000) is a step-by-step guide for workers seeking just the
right job for them. From Micro to Maestro will be published in
the Fall of 2000. He has published over 600 articles and writes
a column that appears monthly in a number of trade journals.
A respected professional speaker
and seminar leader, Roger is recognized as a Certified Speaking
Professional (CSP) by the National Speakers Association. He is
designated as a Certified Management Consultant (CMC) by the
Institute of Management Consultants and serves as vice chair of
the national board of directors of IMC. He is a member of the
World Future Society and is Contributing Editor, Workforce and
Workplace Trends, for The Futurist Magazine. Roger serves
as Senior Fellow of The Workforce Stability Institute, a
not-for-profit research and education organization.
Roger Herman holds a BA from
Hiram College, where he majored in Sociology, and a MA in Public
Administration from The Ohio State University. Prior to starting
his firm, he gained almost two decades of experience in sales,
management, and staff positions in both public and private
sector organizations. In the public sector, he served as a City
Manager (CEO of a municipal government). During the Viet Nam
era, Roger served as a Counterintelligence Special Agent.
